Tomorrow we have the arrival of patch 6.1 - what does it mean to you? Around our clan, it means more fun since we love quality of life patches! There are no major changes in the sense of new raid content and
we can still get 'Ahead of the Curve' achievements in the current content.

Friday 13th Changes
All of our raiders want to progress. Some of our raiders are performing to a level where they should be progressing, however are not progressing because others zoned in to the instance are not performing (for whatever reason) to the level that enables the group to progress.
After several weeks of 'giving time' for everyone to reach a level of performance that enables the group to progress, without progress being made, it's time to make the changes in the roster.
Many of you know that in the past, we have brought 'everyone' to raid and have fun with, and when I wanted to progress, I ran with pugs instead to full clear, or with other guilds. For this expansion, I had decided not to do that. Instead, to be generous in the amount of time people were given to get up to speed, and then cut "for now" whoever was not pushing the right levels of performance. Then backfill with pugs / raiding partners -- in essence, pugging to clear content however doing it with 'our pug' versus joining someone else's pug.
This evening, most of our usual raiders will not be zoning in with us. Be sensitive to that. On the other hand, don't make a mountain out of a molehill. Someone not being there now, does not mean they won't be there down the road - it means only that they are not there now.
Progression raiders, I urge you to work with the social raiders and give them your assistance - whether it be going over their gear, their spec, their rotations, their raid awareness, their understanding of the mechanics. These are our friends -- it could be something small and simple that is keeping them from performing to the progression level.
Effective immediately, Saturday Night Raid is a social raid starting at 8:30 PM server (9:30 PM EST). Those raiders not in the progression raid group, plan for Saturdays. Those in the progression group, bring your alts to Saturday Night and lend your boss expertise to the group.
Tuesday and Friday Night Raids are progression raid group nights. Very old school style approach to the raid composition PER BOSS. Be online, whether you are in the group or on standby on a boss.
Over the course of the next 2-3 weeks, we should be able to shake out and the group should find it's rhythm.
Over the next 4-6 weeks, we will recruit to add ranks to our progression raid group in order for the guild to complete guild achievements, and to offset when people are not available.
See you online.

Progression Raid Group: taking the top performers now
Over on Blizzard Watch, they just posted 'same thinking' and reinforcement for the upcoming additional change to our approach:
http://blizzardwatch.com/2015/02/11/officers-quarters-raiding-in-warlords/
In essence, as much as we enjoy the 'friends and family' approach to bringing all that are on to the flexible raid size, it is impeding the progression rate. Significantly.
Let's not get our wires crossed over this -- it is a very sensitive topic: we PREFER to have everyone in the raid instance. We like raiding together. However, we need a progression group that can progress, separate from a social group where progression rate is not as much of a primary measure.
By reviewing the many several weeks of logs on warcraftlogs.com, we are bringing the top performers in the new progression raid group.
Combined with establishing a progression raid group, we will work with the raiders that are not presently performing at the progression level yet are genuinely interested in improving their performance -- that does not mean they can bridge that gap, however if they can, we want to assist them in moving up sooner rather than later. Scott Andrew's assertion is that it is a steep curve from casual to progression in WoD - agreed; however, not impossible.
Accept and move forward.
Not having cleared Imperator on Normal, let alone on Heroic, and therefore the lack of the 'Ahead of the Curve' means we make changes now to improve the road ahead.

Sometimes You Scrap What You Have and Start Anew!
As part of our tweaking to improve progression rate, we are scrapping what we have and starting anew - which is to say, that instead of taking what we have and trying to determine how to make it more successful, we will take a different approach.
Another way of expressing what we have been posting about since Feb 2014, is that we are "Scrapping" what we had - that is, the roster of the raid group. Instead, we are starting with a blank slate.
With a dynamic raid size, we can always add more people as we go.
In the meantime, we will be starting with a blank roster and adding as we go. Going to build the smallest and tightest group we can that will be successful. This may affect when we raid. TBD.
